Vico Equense: the pizza a metro village
Between Sorrento and Castellammare, Vico Equense combines a cathedral, viewpoints over the gulf and the famous pizza a metro.

The village on the cliff
Vico Equense is the first town of the Sorrentine peninsula, built on a cliff with views over Naples and Vesuvius. The historic centre climbs in terraces around the cathedral, with alleys, belvederes and painted houses.
The cathedral and history
The Cathedral of the Annunciation keeps a Gothic facade and artworks from earlier centuries; the town was a bishopric and a place loved by poets and Grand Tour travellers. The walk between the viewpoints is the best moment of the visit.
Pizza a metro
Pizza a metro — the long pizza cut to measure — was born here and is now famous worldwide. The town's trattorias serve fish, provolone del monaco and traditional sweets in an atmosphere far from tourist crowds.
Getting there
By Circumvesuviana from Pompei you reach Vico Equense in about 30 minutes. The town pairs well with Monte Faito, the coast or a day by the sea in the bay of Seiano.
