The agricultural side of the area

While Pompeii and Herculaneum preserve the cities, Boscoreale tells the countryside: the rustic villas where wine and oil were produced for the wealthy owners of the coast. The Antiquarium gathers tools, amphorae and casts of the roots of ancient plants.

Villa Regina

Villa Regina is a small rustic villa found entirely buried, with its torcularium for pressing grapes and a vineyard replanted with ancient species. It is one of the clearest and most instructive reconstructions of Roman viticulture.

The treasures of the villas

From the villas of Boscoreale come the famous silver service now in the Louvre and frescoes scattered across the great museums of the world. Visiting the site helps you understand where those riches came from.

A perfect half day

The site takes about an hour and pairs with Oplontis or Stabiae in the same day. By Circumvesuviana from Pompei you reach the Boscoreale station in a few minutes.
